Diana Zavjalova became the eighth woman in PBA history to win a PBA Regional title Sunday when she defeated J.R. Raymond, 210-186, in the title match of the PBA Central Region Kokomo Shootout at Heritage Lanes in Kokomo, Ind. Zavjalova went undefeated in match play, compiling a 6-0 record, and finished the event with a total pinfall of 2621, nearly 400 pins better than the runner-up. Raymond amassed a 2242 total and took home $1,500, while Zavjalova won $2,000.
"Words can't describe what an amazing feeling it is to finally join the list of the champs and get my own PBA Banner!" Zavjalova said on Instagram. "Lanes were really tough and I'm proud of being undefeated the whole match play! Feels awesome to kick the big boys' butts."
Zavjalova now can count Shannon O'Keefe, Clara Guerrero, Liz Johnson, Kelly Kulick, Jodi Woessner, Missy Parkin, and Amy Stolz as fellow PBA Regional champs from the women's ranks.
