Bowlers Journal International has learned that United States Bowling Congress Hall of Famer, Sylvia Broyles, has died. She was 80.

A mainstay on the Texas Bowling scene, Broyles held positions as director, vice president, secretary, and treasurer during her time serving the Texas Women's Bowling Association. At the national level, Broyles served as president of the Women's International Bowling Congress and later on the USBC Board. She was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 2005. She had celebrated her 50th year bowling the USBC Women's Championships in June.

"I'm so very happy that I made the special trip to Reno last June to present her with her 50th tournament participation plaque," USBC Hall of Famer, Roseann Kuhn, said in a Facebook post today. "That was the last time I saw her. May you rest in peace my dear friend. I will miss you dearly."
