PODCAST: The Remarkable Story of the PBA’s Youngest Regional Winner and His Dad

by Gianmarc Manzione 0

Eric and heath Jones, l-r., at the backyard bowling lane they built together.

It's hard to know where to begin with the remarkable father-son duo who joined BJI Editor Gianmarc Manzione for this week's episode of The Bowlers Journal Podcast.

First, there is Eric Jones, who at age 15 years and 263 days became the youngest person ever to win a PBA Regional on Oct. 4. And this young man did not just win it; he crushed the Oklahoma City Southwest Open by 310 pins and in doing so, left a very experienced PBA player in Shawn Maldonado in the dust.

But that's just the beginning of the story.

We then have dad Heath Jones, who helped Eric create his own bowling lane in the backyard of their house in April after COVID had shut down bowling centers in Oklahoma. You won't believe the attention and the rewards the duo generated with that project.

And, oh, by the way: Heath Jones is a professional saxophone player with a Ph.D. who has played sax for some of the greatest acts in the history of Motown.
