In a tight race to the finish, Team USA earned the gold and silver medals in the trios event Monday at the 2014 Pan American Bowling Confederation Women's Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe, Danielle McEwan and Missy Parkin combined to shoot 3,885 to capture the gold medal at the Cali Bowling Coliseum. Teammates Liz Johnson, Shannon Pluhowsky and Kelly Kulick took the silver with 3,860.
Host Colombia finished 26 pins out of first and one pin out of second with 3,859 in what was a close battle until the final frame of the six-game event.
O'Keefe led the way for her trios team with a 1,400 total, while McEwan shot 1,260 and Parkin added 1,225.
"We feel really good about what we accomplished tonight and now we are ready to jump right into the team event tomorrow and win gold again," O'Keefe said. "Our looks are getting better each day, and we are settling in just at the right time."
