Tuesday night's second squad results made interesting reading as Team Aalborg's John Guldbak posted 1350 to top the squad
and therefore book his place in sunday's finals, but also had the bonus of $1,000 from Ebonite for wearing the company shirt and using the appropriate bowling balls whilst doing so.
Competitors can nominate to qualify for the prize on each squad by applying the rule and last night the prize was taken by Kamilla Kjeldsen on Squad 1 and the company suffered another hit in Squad 2. There are 14 qualifying squads before the final and with nearly half the competitors signing up, it could cost Ebonite dearly by the end of the week.
Guldback was closely followed by Lovvang Bowling Center's pro shop proprietor Michael Bai on 1318 with Lars Nielsen a further eight pins back. Of the 44 on this squad there were just a couple of 'aliens', Ken Bland, a retired US serviceman now living in Norway and Michael Haest from Belgium. Bland must have suffered some form of injury as he dropped out after five games.
Squad 3 takes to the lanes at 19:00 Wednesday night. Historically it is the lowest entry of the week and only 26 are currently signed up. Action improves dramatically from Thursday as the big guns from europe and beyond flock into this beautiful city.
