The Professional Women’s Bowling Association has named Kelly Kulick as spokesperson for the organization that will re-launch this summer.
Kulick was a member of the PWBA Tour before it ceased operations in 2003 and she has continued to be a dominant competitor in major women’s bowling events as well as on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour. She became the first woman in bowling history to win a PBA Tour title when she took home the 2010 PBA Tournament of Champions title.
“I can’t wait to be a part of the new PWBA,” said Kulick, who recently appeared in a Bridgestone television advertising campaign. “I know there are so many people excited to see women’s professional bowling back on the map and I hope to do my part to ensure it stays around for good this time.”
PWBA Director of Operations Jason Thomas said Kulick’s experience on the PWBA and PBA tours makes her extremely knowledgeable on a variety of operations-related topics.
As the PWBA’s representative, Kulick’s role will include a wide range of services including acting in an advisory capacity on rules and other operations, as well as serving as an ambassador for the league and the sport of bowling.
The PWBA received a three-year funding commitment from the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) starting in 2015. Plans call for a nine-event tour running from mid-summer through early fall, including the Women’s U.S. Open and PWBA Tour Championship.
The PWBA now is accepting letters of intent from prospective members who plan to join the organization when memberships are made available. Potential members can fill out a form that signifies their intent to join (with no obligation) and also requests biographical information that will be used for the upcoming launch of the PWBA.com website.
