It's that man again!
Ildemaro Ruiz, our friend from Venezuela, kept up his winning ways by dominating the second stage of the quarterfinal, outpointing all 48 players to hold a comfortable buffer going into the semi-final, another four-game block for the leading 24 after today's four-game opener.
"I just tried to stay relaxed and focused through this block," Ruiz explained. "I was bowling really well but maybe I should have changed my bowling ball for the last game, as I dropped to 225. I can now have a brief rest and then hope to keep up my game and make the stepladder final."
Going into the semi-final, Ruiz has a 37 point lead over Dominic Barrett of England and Finland's Osku Palermaa is in third place, one point behind the Englishman.
Hopes for a member of the fairer sex to be in the final are raised with Rebecka Larsen of Sweden holding fourth place, but back on 1627, 22 points in arrears to Palermaa.
