Thanks to the generosity of a number of industry partners and attendees, the International Bowling Media Association was able to donate $1,040 to the Chuck Pezzano Scholarship Fund from the 2015 United States Bowling Congress Convention in Omaha, Neb.
Prizes including stays at the Eldorado Hotel & Casino in Reno, Nev., and Coast Casinos in Las Vegas, bowling balls from Brunswick, Qubica/AMF, and Storm, a gift certificate from K&K Pro Shops in Las Vegas, and autographed copies of the books Pin Action by Gianmarc Manzione and Bowling: America's Greatest Indoor Pastime by Mark Miller netted most of the proceeds. The rest came from a donation from Miller from the sale of his books during the convention trade show at the end of April.
"We can't thank our partners enough for providing the prizes won by nine different people in Omaha," said IBMA President Joan Romeo. "And thanks to the many USBC association volunteers and others in attendance, we were able to honor the memory of one of the greatest bowling writers ever in Chuck Pezzano who passed away earlier this year."
IBMA will have a similar booth at International Bowl Expo on June 25-26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center with proceeds going to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.
