Hanson Named International Sales Manager for Ebonite

Ebonite International has named Rich Hanson as its new International Sales Manager.

Hanson has been in the bowling business his entire professional life, owning three pro shops in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Hopkinsville, Ky., in 2011 to take on the role of PowerHouse Brand Manager. He continued to move up within the company, adding the role of Track Brand Manager, and in 2014 became the Marketing Manager - Bowling Ball Category with responsibility for all four of the EBI brands (Hammer, Track, Ebonite and Columbia 300).

“Rich has done a great job in helping to drive our product performance in the marketplace, and within his new role we look forward to having him work closely with our international distributors to drive the EBI presence in each market,” said Ebonite CEO, Randy Schickert, in a media release.

Reporting to Hanson will be Chun Bae, Asian Sales Manager; Tamara Ferguson, Global Sales Coordinator; Bettina Lund, EBD Sales Manager (Europe); and Amleto Monacelli, South American Sales Manager.

Partnering with Mike Judy, North American Sales Manager, they will lead the Global Sales initiatives for Ebonite International. Both Judy and Hanson will be on the company’s Senior Staff and report directly to Schickert.

Ebonite also announced that Mike Stewart would be moving to the company’s sales depart as Retail/Inside Sales, Non Ball Coordinator, to help support and drive retail sales, as well as build inside sales initiatives. He will also continue to manage the relationship with Ebonite’s non-ball licensees, KR Strike Force and Jayhawk.

Stewart has been with EBI for three years, driving the non-ball categories, and most recently was instrumental in transitioning these to new partners. He will be reporting directly to Mike Judy, North American Sales Manager.

With these moves, Ebonite International starts the search for a Marketing Manager - Bowling Ball Category. This position is responsible for driving business and achieving a leadership position in the market for the four brands in the portfolio (Hammer, Track, Ebonite and Columbia 300). Bob Johnson has received more national writing awards than any other bowling writer — close to 70 over the course of his 40-year career. He began at age 16 as a staff writer and then assistant editor for the weekly Pacific Bowler newspaper in his native California, and within three years was writing feature stories for Bowlers Journal. He has written for the magazine ever since, except for a five-year span when he was hired as the founding editor of another magazine. He moved to Chicago in 2000 and spent 13 years in the Windy City, including five as Bowlers Journal’s Editor. In 1975, Johnson received the Robert E. Kennedy Award as California’s top undergraduate high school journalist. Five years earlier, on the lanes, he had shared the Bantam Division Doubles championship in the Orange County Junior Bowling Association Championships.
