Core Design: Elite’s symmetric Hurricane core produces a 2.54 RG with a Diff of .057 for 15-lb. balls. In 14-pounders, we see an RG of 2.57 with a Diff of .051. We had 5” of track flare with both the 14- and 15-lb. balls drilled with 4” pin distances.

Coverstock: This colorful FX-95 pearl reactive boasts a unique tri-color mix of red, blue and gold. The surface is sanded with 1500-grit and accepts polish easily for added length. Response time off dry was both quick and strong; oil traction was limited with box finish.

Manufacturer’s Intent: The Sabotage gives Elite a long and strong ball reaction to help round out its lineup of performance products. This is a somewhat new reaction as most previous Elites we’ve tested have been more control-oriented in regard to overall breakpoint motion. Also, this ball comes with a slightly lower retail price.

Test Results: The Sabotage will deliver a hockey stick-shaped breakpoint with its box finish on most house patterns. This aggressive breakpoint motion should suit rev-challenged players. The Sabotage provided one of our strongest reactions off dry among balls we’ve tested so far this year, as we saw some of our biggest entry angles. A word of caution, though: we noticed the Sabotage also had a moderate aversion toward carrydown or heavier midlane oil patterns. Our best remedy for this was to sand the surface with 360- or 500-grit, as this lessened its oil sensitivity.

When to Use: The Sabotage is designed for players looking for a ball that can be thrown away from the pocket and recover decisively in the back-end portion of the lane. Players looking for control and smoothness downlane will be better served drilling an Elite Spider Wasp, Platinum or Black label. Our best looks with the Sabotage were on light-medium to medium volumes of almost any distance. Drillers can enhance this break-dance backend with stronger pins and aggressive drill angles. Our favorite layout for an aggressive downlane motion was a 60 drill angle, a 30 VAL angle with a 4.5” pin distance.
