The theme of the 2015 East Coast Bowling Centers Convention was to have been “Facing the Future Together.”
Just moments ago, the ECBC Convention Committee faced Mother Nature and decided to cancel the event, according to John LaSpina, President of Maple Family Centers.
Earlier, organizers had posted this message on the convention’s website: “The East Coast Bowling Centers Convention Committee is working diligently to determine the situation of the pending storm headed for the East Coast. The decisions regarding the… convention made by the committee will be with the utmost consideration for safety and security of our attendees, exhibitors, and staff.”
With Hurricane Joaquin now generating watches and warnings up and down the East Coast — including in Atlantic City, N.J., where the convention was to have been held — organizers decided to err on the side of caution.
