Now, after Squad 8 bowlers complete their stint, we have the first Danish qualifier for Sunday's finals. Fredrik Ohrgaard from
Denmark's capital Copenhagen, or Kobenhavn as the locals like to call it, hit 1369 to be top of the squad tree on Friday morning.
"I started badly with a 182," he told us. "Then I had a 202 and decided to change to a weaker bowling ball. That worked for me and I had four good games. The difficulty here is to get a good carry with corner pins but the choice of ball was great for me."
Second to the Dane was Sweden's Veronica Lantto, the Gothenburgian well known as the partner of Osku Palermaa, quickly dodging questions as to when they are going to trot up the aisle. She said she bowled well this morning with 1325 including bonus pins. A 227 start was followed with a couple of sub-200s before picking up the pace over the final three games.
2008 Barcelona Open champion Lucas Legnani from Buenos Aires, Argentina fared not so well on this squad, placing fifth with 1313. He will be back, determined to step onto the podium come Sunday evening.
