Cedar Lanes, an important part of the Lebanon, Pa., community since 1959, will close next May, proprietor Darrin Armel has announced.
When it opened, the center was one of the first to feature automatic pinsetting machines. Demand for lane time was so strong that the center expanded from 16 lanes to 24 within three years. Later, it became a regular stop for the PBA East Region.
Ryan Shafer won back-to-back regional titles there in 2013 and 2014, and once showed his gratitude to the local fans by bowling in two pro-am squads in a single day despite also being committed to attending a trade show on Long Island that same day.
