30th Thailand Open
BSC Bowling Center
R.C.A. BANGKOK
A 278 in the eighth and final game of the first block of the Men's Open
Masters, saw Cheng Chao-Sheng of Chinese Taipei atop the leader board on 1,780,
36 pins ahead of Australia's Andrew Frawley. Justin Teng of Singapore currently
holds third place on 1,726.
The 24-year-old sports' administration student, who won his last title in the
Asian Tour in 199, hoisted himself from fourth place with that welcome high
game.
A final game of 266 also saw defending champion Kirsten Penny of England as
frontrunner in the ladies' division, totaling 1,682 over her first eight games,
but just two pins ahead of the talented Malaysian Shalin Zulkifli. Chinese
Taipei is once again among the top three with Chen Hsiu-Lan in third place with
1,661.
Competition resumes Friday morning with the final eight games and then the
top six players in both divisions will advance to the stepladder finals.
