ABF TOUR
Thailand
May 15-16, 2004
The
second leg of the 2004 Asian Bowling Federation Tour
takes place at the BSC Bowl, Bangkok immediately after
the 30th Thailand Open.
The top 16 Asian men and 16 women from the final standings of the 30th
Thailand Open, completed yesterday with Ahmed Shaheen of Qatar and Chinese
Taipei's Tsai Hsin Yi the 2004 champions, now endeavor to progress through the
rounds of sudden death one-game matches, fighting for Asian zone ranking points
as well as the honor of standing atop the podium at the conclusion of the finals
Sunday evening.
The first leg, staged in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last
month saw Wendy Chai (pictured with Lalisang) beat Malaysian team-mate Sarah Yap,
257-256, for the ladies' title and then the wonderful
perfect game by Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia, all on live
TV, brought him the men's title.
Unfortunately, Lalisang has not made the cut this year,
nor did Chai, so Malaysian hopes rst on the solid
shoulders of Shalin Zulkifli. Selected matches will be televised live for two hours on Saturday afternoon
and three hours on Sunday evening. Lanes 37-38 have been set up as an arena for
a crowd of spectators and the opening match featured will be Angkana Netviseth
of Thailand against Filipina Irene Garcia in the ladies' division. This will be
followed by Ahmed Shaheen of Qatar versus Justin Teng of Singapore. The
winners of those matches will also play their second round matches on live TV.
As your writer will be one of the TV commentators, it will not be possible to
post match by match results on this site, but a summary will be made later in
the day. For up to date information, please click on to: www.abftour.com.
