The only match to be settled over three games in the last round was the convincing win by Tore Torgersen of Norway over Sweden's Peter Hellstrom. The PBA pro bowler settled the issue with games of 216, 276 and 225 whilst Hellstrom could only muster 202, 178 and 199.

Top seed Pasi Uotila of Finland hit 296 in his opening game against Stefan Augustsson, the guy who has come all the way up the table from 41st position. Augustsson took the second game, 209-185, but lost the third and fourth to bow out of the competition.

Thoughts of a power house high scoring match between Americans Bill Hoffman and Tim Mack soon fizzled out. Hoffman took the first game, 199-195, lost the second, 193-170, then the third, 246-184. Mack took the decider, 237-209.

Defending champion Martin Larsen, also from Sweden (pictured), hit problems against Mathias Arup, losing the first two games and then getting the third on a squeaker, 206-205. All went awry, however, as he lost the match 3 - 2.
