Excitement reigned through the quarter
finals, especially for the Torgersen-Rash
match, which went down to the wire.
Torgersen won the first two games and looked
to wrap it all up over three games. But Rash
decided otherwise and came back with a 290
and then a 217 to bring the result to two
games apiece. Torgersen stamped his
authority in the fifth game, winning by 20
pins, 232-212.
Tim Mack suddenly came back to his true form
with four solid 200-plus games, three of them of
them good enough to beat Israel's stalwart Or
Aviram.
Although Peder Jacobsson hit a 264 in his
third game, the other three were not good enough
to outpace Mattias Arup, so he bows out into the
fifth to eighth brigade.
And number one seed Pasi Uotila's progress
came to a shuddering halt against very much in
form Mika Koivuniemi, the PBA Player of the
Year. The Finn's three straight game win with
games of 216, 225 and 231 saw him through to
play against fellow pro bowler Tore Torgersen in
the semi's.

A memorable final indeed. Four nations
represented in the semi's then Norway versus
Sweden atthe pinnacle. It was nip and tuck
right through the final but Arup got the breaks
when he needed them most and a solid 10-pin in
the tenth frame cost Torgersen any chance to
take the title. The bowling gods were
certainly on the side of the lithe Swede but he
has gone through today's matches valiantly and
has the backing of his fellow countrymen and
ladies for keeping the 2004 Olympia Super Series
Tournament on home ground.
