Globalair Travel Youth Open Gets Underway
The first
ever Globalair Travel Malta Youth Open got underway at Eden Leisure’s SuperBowl
yesterday (Thu), with no less that 70 youth and junior bowlers registered to
take part. Although the majority of the competitors are locals, there is also an
impressive foreign line up of 29 bowlers hailing from England, Scotland and also
Belgium.
The Youth
Open was opened by Mr. Neil Dent, the SuperBowl’s General Manager
(pictured), accompanied
by Mr. Mark Bugeja on behalf of the Open’s sponsors, Globalair Travel Ltd. Mr.
Dent welcomed all
bowlers and guests to the SuperBowl, thanking them all in
advance for taking part, saying that the high turnout surely augurs well for the
Youth Open’s future growth. Mr. Dent also thanked youth and junior coaches
Pierre German and Giancarlo Tolu for their dedication to the local youth bowling
scene, and Mr. Tolu in particular for his involvement and help in the creation
of this new event in the Maltese bowling calendar. There was also appreciation
for the backing of Globalair Travel, as well as the Eden Leisure Group – without
which the holding of the event would not have been possible.
Mr. Bugeja
(pictured left),
began by expressing his great pleasure with the response to this the inaugural
Globalair Travel Youth Open, highlighting the various international events
hosted by the SuperBowl during the year. Between the Youth Open, the Malta Open
(June) and the Seniors Open (October), all age groups of bowlers on all levels
are now catered for, and know that they can come to Malta and play in a
tournament organised to the highest standard. An active league and tournament
bowler himself, Mr. Bugeja then officially opened the Youth Open by bowling a
single frame in front of the enthusiastic crowd of bowlers and spectators alike.
