SMITS 200 PINS CLEAR
One of the best moves as the field narrows down to just eight men for the Round
Robin, was up from ninth to second place by Paul Moor of England. He totaled 908
over his four games to hold the current runner-up position.
 Yes, the
tournament leader is still young Peter Smits from the Netherlands (pictured). He
said, "I'm actually surprised to have such a lead and to be bowling so well. I'm
playing exactly the same line as the last tournament in Norwich, the European
Cup Teams. The ball I am using, the Ebonite Vortex, is really mixing the pins
and giving me plenty of carry."
Another player to come into the Round Robin from way back was another Dutchman,
Luc Jansen. He came up from 13th place to sixth with a healthy 877 set.
Sadly, the tournament roster is now bereft of stars Jason Belmonte, Chris van
Damme and Menno van den Heuvel, to name just a few.
Currently, it is the unique situation of having the top three bowlers being
left-handers. Last year's champion, Gery Verbruggen of Belgium, was a leftie,
but ladies' champion, Kamilla Kjeldsen was right-handed. Neither are here to
defend their titles as they are going to Moscow for the World Ranking Masters
next week.
The Round Robin is scheduled to commence at 13:00, local time.
