WELCOME TO MALTA
Whether you're just sitting at home or
winging your way south to the idyllic
Mediterranean island of Malta, you can enjoy
the friendly but strongly competitive
atmosphere of the Eden Leisure Malta Open by
following the progress on these web pages.
We will be covering this long standing and
bowlers' favorite European Ranking tournament
from the very first squad on Wednesday, June
14 and take you through each segment until the
exciting final on Sunday afternoon.
There's a new format this year, switching
to a six-game qualifier with multiple
re-entries but the Malta Open is still the
only EBT event now with separate men's and
women's divisions.
Defending cha mpions
are Chris van Damme, the lofty Belgian who has
been determined to carry off the Malta Open
laurels for many years, and debonair Martina
Beckel from Frankfurt, Germany, also a
frequent flier to this prestigious event.
Our picture shows 2005 champions Van Damme
and Beckel with their unique Maltese craft
trophies, flanked by Mike Gatt and Neil Dent,
the latter the general manager of Eden
SuperBowl.
MEMORABLE MALTA
MOMENTS........
Getting there ... and back!
The
Air Malta fleet, consisting of five
Airbus 319, five Airbus 320 and three
Boeing 737, can boast of being one of
the youngest fleets in Europe, down to
2.5 years of age when the aircraft
replacement program is completed in 2007
with the delivery of a further two
Airbuses.
"The new fleet will provide added
comfort and improved service to
passengers," says Joe Cappello, Air
Malta's CEO.
Air Malta now fly to 54 destinations and
bowlers coming to the Malta Open and
Senior Open especially appreciate the
extra 20kg baggage allowance for their
bowling equipment.
