A DOUBLE TO REMEMBER
Hopes
for a Malaysian double after the men's and women's stepladder finals looked
fragile this afternoon on the lanes of the Pyramid Megabowl in Kualar Lumpur.
Malaysian's Daniel Lim and Shalin Zulkifli, both from Kuala Lumpur, were top
seeds in their respective divisions and each lost the first game of the title
matches, Zulkifli, 187-192, to Chinese Taipei's Wang Yu-Lin, and Lim to another
bowler from the island, Kao Hai Yuan, 163-192. The tournament rules call for a
further game should the top seed lose the first.
However, to the great relief of a crowd spanning most of the center's 48 lanes,
both Lim and Zulkifli prevailed, digging deep into their experience, to come
back in the bonus second game and take the titles - Lim, 213-203, and Zulkifli, 229-179.
