Ladies' Open Qualifying - Scores at 00:30, Thursday March 25:
Jennifer Tan of
Singapore (pictured), the 2002 World Ranking Masters' champion, still
maintains a firm grip of the Ladies' Open Division of the 2004 Malaysian
Open, completely unworried by the masses firing broadsides at her 904
series.
Tuesday's mid-day squad saw Wang Yu Ling of Chinese Taipei hit a
squeaker with a 900 series and failing to take over pole position by the
narrow margin of just five pins. Her consistent games were: 214, 214,
213, 259.
Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty of the United States improved her position to
third this afternoon (Wednesday) with a much improved 885 series.
Defending champion Filipina Liza del Rosario had difficulties obtaining a British visa for her trip to
England for the Brunswick World Tenpin Masters next week, but has been
informed that she will now be able to obtain that here in Kuala Lumpur.
So far, she has not been able to get amongst the leaders but is seeded
into tomorrow's Masters.
In the Local division, Malaysian favorite Shalin Zulkifli is still tied in
first place with Siti Khadijah Osman, also from Malaysia, and will take
to the lanes for a further entry on Tuesday evening. After a month off
bowling for school examinations, Shalin said: "It's tough to get my form
back, but I'm getting better all the time."
There were no changes to the qualifiers in Wednesday night's final
squad, therefore the list below qualify for the first round of the
Ladies' Masters on Thursday.
