FANTASTIC SUCCESS FOR THE INAUGURAL ABF TOUR
Some truly outstanding bowling on the Pyramid Megabowl lanes here in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia Saturday, augurs well for the future of the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) Tour as it sets out on its course of six events, which will culminate with the Tournament of Champions, dedicated to the late Peter Yap, early next year.

The top 16 Asian men and women from the 27th Malaysian Open qualified for the inaugural event. Each round is a one-game sudden-death format.

Bitter disappointment for Malaysia came with the defeat of both 27th Malaysian Open champions, local bowlers Daniel Lim and Shalin Zulkifli. However, there is still light at the end of the tunnel for Malaysia as Wendy Chai, Sarah Yap and Siti Khadijah survived to the semi final, to be joined by Alice Tay of Singapore.

In the men's division, 19-year-old Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong will face the UAE's Sultan Al-Marzouqi and Ryan Lausang of Indonesia takes on Kao Hai Yuan of Chinese Taipei for a place in the final.

The top scores so far in the event are a 299 from Azidi Ameran of Malaysia (pictured) and Wendy Chai's 248. Wendy's score was even more impressive because it was bowled on the TV pair, much affected by the strong lighting.

Sunday's program will feature both the semi finals and finals on live TV, a show scheduled to take some three hours.
