TI'S PERFECT ALREADY

Philippine bowler Biboy Rivera (pictured, left) hit 300 in the Doubles event of the 2nd Indonesia Open 2004 on October 3 at the Jaya Ancol Bowl, Jakarta.

Bowling with Sithiphol Kunaksorn of  Thailand, Rivera  scored 265 and 300 and his partner 227 and 193 in the two-game event.

Team-mate Chester King (pictured, right) spoiled the one-man perfect game show by emulating the feat on Tuesday, rolling 221, 300, 237 and 220 for a 978 series in the Open Division Singles. Both are currently sharing the 50,000,000 rupiah perfect game prize.

It's a day of celebration at the Ancol Bowl Wednesday as Liza Del Rosario of the Philippines and Singapore coach Tom Hahl from Finland both promise a party in the evening for their birthdays. So far, the ages specified are under revue, seemingly more likely to be the ages they wish they were. Maybe an update later.

2003 champion, Tim Mack of the United States, will not be returning to Jakarta to defend his title. This prestigious event unfortunately clashes with the 2004 Weber Cup, USA versus Europe, staged this coming weekend in northern England. Mack is captain of the American team and therefore has to forego his return to Asia. Kirsten Penny of England, will, however, be trying very hard to make it a double title win.

With the Open Division qualifying now completed, the field below progresses to the match play rounds, the men's and women's divisions playing their first block of eight games on Thursday. The women set the pace at 14:00 local time, the men afterwards at 17:00.

The second eight-game blocks are rolled on Friday, the women once again leading the way by bowling at 9:00 and the men at 12:30. The top six men and six women will contest the Open Masters Stepladder Final at 14:30.

A one-game play-off to break the 24th place tie in the women's division went in favor of Alice Tay of Singapore, beating Filipina Elaine Florencio, 203-191.

The match play finals will feature contestants from twelve different nations in the men's division and nine in the women's
