Defending champion Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong (pictured, left)
will take to the lanes Thursday afternoon to defend his 2003 Hong Kong Open
title in company with the 31 qualifiers for the 2004 Masters.
The top overseas player is vibrant left-hander Choi Bok Eum of
Korea (pictured, below left) who topped the Overseas pool with a fine score of
944 over the four qualifying games.
The highest qualifying score of exactly 1,000, a 250 average,
was hit by local playe r
Chiang Kwok Fai to head the Local pool.
The talented group of 36, which will include four Hong Kong
national team members, will play two blocks of eight games, the
first Thursday afternoon, the second on Friday, to determine the stepladder
finalists.
The top 16 Asian men will qualify to play in the final 2004 leg
of the ABF Tour which will be held on Saturday at the Mei Foo Fun Bowl,
broadcast live for five hours from 14:00 local time.

Choi Bok Eum of Korea has been disqualified from the Men's Open Masters of the
Hong Kong Open because he was 15 minutes too late at check-in, thinking that the
squad started at 15:00, whereas the published time was 14:30.
