It's that man again!
Stuart Williams (pictured), the Englishman who
destroyed all the opposition to clinch the 2007
World
 Ranking
Masters last month in Lake Wales, Florida, hit
the 2007 Malta Open's second men's 300 in the
second game of the second round Friday evening.
Opening his account with a 244, the burly Brit
hit the 300, the 33rd of his illustrious career, as he moved to lanes 9-10 and he has
demoted Dutchman Geert-Jan van Baest to second
place on overall total pinfall, currently 21
pins ahead after 14 games.
The only other high games from the openers were
268 by Christer Eklund of Sweden; 256 by Nick
Froggatt of England and 253 for Mikael Kanold,
also from Sweden.
There are two more games to bowl right now, then
the field cuts to 36 from the combined squads of
the second round.
Stuart continued on his merry way to emerge the
tournament leader after 16 games, 36 pins ahead
of previous leader Geert-Jan. A fine 278 in his
final game brought Dennis Eklund from Sweden up
into third place.
A disappointing placing for double defending
champion Chris van Damme, way down in 27th, so
facing a tough fight to remain in contention.
Many blame his lack of colorful trousers this
year, so he has promised to bring out the multi-colored
pair from last year should he make the top 18
after these four games.
