
TENPIN'S MAJOR
SHOWPIECE RETURNS TO BARNSLEY
The line-up
for the 2008 PartyCasino.com World Tenpin
Masters has been completed and the event
promises to be better than ever.
Held at the Barnsley Metrodome from April 18
to April 20, the tournament will feature 16
of the best male and female bowlers from
around the world.
Jason Belmonte (pictured), the sensational
Australian who won this title 12 months ago
with a magnificent
300 game in the championship match, will be
back to defend his title. In addition, top
quality PBA bowler Chris Barnes, a Masters
winner in 2006, will also be in the field.
Other notables taking part include 2007
European No.1 Osku Palermaa (Finland)
and Ladies 2007 World Ranking Masters
champion Diandra Asbaty (USA).
2005 World Cup winner Michael Schmidt of
Canada is back in the event hoping to
improve on previous showings and newcomers
to the tournament include Or Aviram of
Israel, Ghislaine van der Tol of The
Netherlands and Hong Kong's Wu Siu Hong.
UK
hopes are centered on three times Masters’
finalist Paul Moor and 2007 World Ranking
Masters Champion, Stuart Williams. Also
representing the
UK
will be Kirsten Penny, a $50,000 winner at
the recent Qatar Open, Dominic Barrett and
PTBC Masters’ winner James Tidd.

competition opens at 19:00
on Friday, April 18 with defending champion
Jason Belmonte taking on rookie James Tidd
of
England
with total pinfall over two games the
decider and the winner advancing to the
quarterfinals. This is followed by Ghislaine
van der Tol of the
Netherlands
facing
South Africa’s
Guy Caminsky. The first session concludes
with
England’s
number one Paul Moor taking on Alex Liew of
Malaysia.
The Saturday
afternoon session opens with England versus
The Philippines as Dominic Barrett is set
against Biboy Rivera, then it is a battle of
recent QubicaAMF World Cup champions between
Michael Schmidt of Canada and Finland’s Osku
Palermaa. Stuart Williams of
England
and American star Diandra Asbaty conclude
the session.
Saturday
evening will see the two remaining first
round matches with Kirsten Penny of
England
pitted against
Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang
and Or Aviram of
Israel
relishing his draw against 2006 champion
Chris Barnes of the
United States.
The first quarterfinal from the first two
matches concludes the day’s play.
The
remaining quarter-, semi-finals and final
are played on Sunday at 14:00
and
18:00.
