The first feelings of direct involvement
with the 2007 WTBA Women's World
Championships came with the early morning
Managers' Meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Over 100 international team managers
and coaches listened to presentations by
Tournament Director
Gilbert Snijders from Netherlands Antilles,
John Davis of Kegel and Heikki Sarso,
retiring president of WTBA. This was
strictly an information-only meeting, but a
few questions were asked from the floor.
This
morning saw the first of four squads take to
the lanes for 90 minutes practice on the
long and short condition.
The evening saw the opening ceremony and a
welcome reception.
This took the form of a march-in by the
competitors and welcome speeches by Mexican
dignataries, followed by a short folkloric
dance group.
