MEN - ROUND 4 Top 18 - 4 games
We hardly had time to brush the cobwebs from a night's sleep
disturbed by violent thunderstorms when the crash of pins on lanes
11- 12
brought us to attention. Stewart Meadus from Canada (many years ago)
(pictured) hit the second perfect game, the fifth of his career,
following the example of defending champion Christer Danielsson of
Sweden set on Friday evening.
The good news is that Stewart, a flooring contractor in Harrogate,
England, opened his account this morning with 257 and followed that
with 300, totalling 565 with his four points per game age bonus.
This brought him up into second place behind the ace Hermann Wimmer
from Germany.
The bad news is that this ties for the high game with Ingve
Zetterstrom's 299 as Ingve receives five points a game and Stewart
four, so both have a 304.
"I hit 1460 in my second qualifying set and knew I had the shot,"
Stewart said. "For some reason that shot wasn't there yesterday but
I certainly found it again this morning." So did Danielsson and
Oldfield, hitting 279 and 277 respectively. Danielsson also hit 976
over his four games this morning.
Four games down the pike and Stewart dropped back to fourth place as
a plethora of incredible scores brought Danielsson from fourth to
second and Ron Oldfield up to third from eighth.
The round robin takes to the lanes for both the men's and women's
divisions at 12 noon.
