TRIOS EVENT:
Three games short oil, three games long.
Two squads.

England set a cracking pace to lead the first block of the Trios event on Tuesday. Their players, who claim to have difficulty on the short oil pattern, frolicked home with a score of 1970 over the three games, 55 pins clear of second-placed France, who set their score on the first squad.
Star of the English threesome was Fiona Banks with games 0f 235, 290 and 224, despite a sprained wrist, a pain which she claims will not interfere with the second squad on long oil pattern on Wednesday. Jemma Smith, daughter of English multi-champion and WBW Hall of Famer Pauline Buck, is the big surprise of the English team, contributing an admirable 629 series to the English score.
Banks also leads the All Events after the 15 games so far completed. Her current 225.67 average holds an 81 point buffer over doubles gold medalist Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark with the 300-girl Patricia Schwarz in third place.

Germany's star trio stormed to a 3858 finish to leave the competitors in the final squad a hard task to get into the top four for the semifinals and final later this evening.
Tina Hulsch was the top performer on the long oil condition this morning, hitting an even 700 over the three games, the highest individual score of the day.
This leaves Team England's trio a target of 1889 when they takes to the lanes this afternoon, but 1710 will get them into the top four as the scores stand now.
