3rd  Kuwait International Open Bowling Tournament

From 16/4/2006 to 7/5/2006

This tournament is an open individual tournament organized in compliance with the rules and regulations of Kuwait Bowling Federation, the Asian Bowling Federation and the WTBA. It will be organized during the period from April 16th  to May 7th, 2006 in the 16 lane Cosmo Center. The results of the championship will part of ABF ranking of the sport. At the same time, the Kuwaiti Federation will organize the ABF Tour on May 8th, 2006 as part of the Asian ranking of the sport.

The organization of the championship comes within the framework of the general plan of the Kuwaiti Federation to raise the profile of Kuwaiti bowlers in Asia in general and in Kuwait, in particular.

To achieve the sought objectives, Sheikh Talal Mohammad Al Sabah, President of the Asian Bowling Federation and Chairman of the Kuwaiti Bowling Federation had conducted visits to many bowling federations in Asia, Arab and European countries, N. America, S. America and Australia to attract reputable bowlers to this championship.

Lanes:                                       16 AMF lanes

Top 37 qualified from the trials ( preliminary games) will be as follows: (27 bowlers + six bowlers from the hosting country +four Desperado)

First:

Rules and Regulations of the Championship:

1.       This championship is an individual championship organized in accordance with the laws of the Kuwaiti Federation and the Asian Bowling Federation and WTBA.

2.       All bowlers from inside and outside Kuwait are entitled to participate in the championship after paying the fees.

3.       Participation fees are USD 200/--, including the T-shirt of the championship.

4.       The fees of taking part in the trials, for both men and ladies, is USD 50/--.

5.       A bowler is not entitled to get a refund of the participation or trials fees once a receipt is issued therefore.

6.       Scores for ladies go towards both the open section and the ladies section of the event. The top 10 ladies plus 2 local will play the ladies semifinal

7.       All ties with the exception of the desperado final and the top 4 TV final will be decide by one game roll off , ties in the desperado will be decide by 9th & 10th frame roll off, ties in TV final decided by one ball roll off .

Qualifying and finals format:-

1.       Qualifying is based on the two best 3 game blocks for short and long oil ie 12 games total for each  bowler.

2.       Each qualifying attempt consists of 3 games played on the same pair of lanes

3.       A lane draw will be conducted before each squad

4.       A bowler should complete the three games in  each trial and he is not entitled to withdraw  before completing the trial.

5.       All bowlers are entitled to reserve two trials in long oiling and the same in short oiling.

6.       Trial 158 and 159 will be reserved on Friday, 5th May 2006 in the presence of the bowler personally, together with paying unrefundable fees.

7.       After completing the four qualifying attempts (2 short and 2 long) in any further attempts  the lowest result will be removed and the best score is recorded for the bowler.

Qualifying:-

1.       Top 27 based on qualifying scores + Top 6 local + Top 4 from Desperado. Total 37 bowlers.

2.       Of the top 27 qualifiers, the top 5 will automatically qualify for the top 16open round 3. Then will be seeded No. 1-5 in round 3 .

3.       Bowlers 6-37 will bowl 5 games Long and 5 games Short in round 1.

4.       The top 3 after these 10 games on round 1 automatically will qualify for open round 3. They will be seeded 6-8 for round 3

5.       Bowlers 4-19 will qualify for open round 2.

6.       Bowlers 4-19 will take their total pinfall carried forward from 10 games in round 1 and bowl and additional 3 games short and 3 games Long in round 2.

7.       The top 8 bowlers on total pinfall from rounds 1 and 2 (16 games) will qualify for open round 3, they will be seeded 9-16 for open round 3.

8.       Open round 3 top 16 will be best of 5 games matches with the number 1 seed playing the number 16 seed, the No.2 seed playing the No. 15 seed and so on. The highest placed seed will choose between the short and long condition for the match.

9.       Open round 4 will be the 8 winners from round 3 bowling best of 5 game matches with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed. The highest placed seed will choose between the short and long condition.

10.   The 4 winners from round 4 will bowl a one game TV match with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed, and the 2 other seeds against each other. The highest placed seed will choose between the short and long condition.

11.   The 2 winners will bowl a 1 game final with the highest placed seed choosing between the short and long condition, the winner of this match will be declared the Kuwait open Champion.

 

Ladies' Division:-

1.       The Top 10 ladies + 2 local ladies will qualify for the ladies' final.

2.       The semifinal for ladies will be played on Saturday 6th May 2006 and they play four games on short oiling and four games on long oiling to choose the top four women players for the final.

3.      The top four ladies will play one game step ladder on Sunday 7th May 2006.

4.   4th V 3rd , winner V 2nd , place winner V top seed. Top seed has the right of 1 game rechallenge if she loses her first game 

 N.B.

The Top sixteen Asian Federation member bowlers in Kuwait 3rd  Tournament will be qualified to bowl in the ABF Tour Tournament on Monday, 8th May 2006. The time of playing will be made known during the closing ceremony of the 3rd Kuwait Open Tournament.

General Rules :

1.       Protests are made in writing and within two hours of conclusion of the match, together with a fee of $60 to Tournament Director within two hours of the completion of the match, refundable when such protest is accepted.

2.       Any mistakes in recording or computing results shall be amended by the technical committee once they are made known. A provisional ball may be requested to be played pending a decision by the technical committee.  

3.       The Technical Committee is entitled to complete the game/games on other lanes other than those play started on in case any defect occurs to the lanes on which a bowler started.

4.       Any bowler forced to leave the during the game has to get a permission from the game supervisor or his representative, provided that this period should not exceed 3 minutes, otherwise he may be giving a zero score for any any further absent frames.

5.       During play, no food is permitted and the supervisor may warn those in violation of this law.

6.       Once a bowler signs the official score sheet, the score is deemed to be correct.

7.       Bowlers should be present at least 30 minutes before their match.

8.       Participation fees are non reimbursable once participation is accepted and approved.

9.       Late coming or absent bowlers shall be dismissed with no right to claim the participation fees of that qualifying attempt.

10.   Each bowler must see to it that his balls are in compliance with the WTBA specifications. For this purpose, the Technical Committee will carry out a random inspection during the whole period of the Tournament.

11.   Smoking is strictly prohibited during any tournament . The Technical Committee is authorized to dismiss those in violation of this rule, without any right to claim back the participation fees. Inside the playing area, the consumption of beverages is not allowed

12.   In the event of any unsportsmanlike conduct, a warning will be given and  if such conduct re occurs the bowler may be disqualified from the tournament with no claim to fees or prize money

13.   Any other issues, which do not fall under such regulations, shall be governed by the Tournament Director's discretion.
