FIRST OVER THE FINISH LINE
Squad 'B' features the first group to complete all twelve qualifying games and it is Owe Hermann of Oslo, Norway (pictured) sitting atop the men's leader board and, on the distaff side, England's Jackie Atkinson from Reading claiming the ladies' honors.

Hermann, 55, was the squad leader after six games and consolidated his position with his second series of 1243, averaging 207  without any bonus points. His overall average for the 12 games is now 209 and he has a 114 point buffer over second-placed Hay Jooster.

Jackie Atkinson, 57 (pictured, left), is a truly experienced tournament player, currently third in the English senior rankings and has played for England as a national squad member four times. This is her first entry to the Malta Senior Open and as her next squad is not until Saturday, will be able to tour the sights of this wonderful island. Just one age bonus point per game gives her an overall total of 2194, 53 points ahead of fellow countrywoman Tricia Outrim.

Whilst the Squad B members enjoy the sights and delights of Malta, it is now the players of Squad 'E' taking over the lanes for their first block of six games, featuring among the stars veteran Ron Oldfield from Sheffield, England, certainly among the favorites for the title on Sunday evening.
