ROOKIES THRIVE
As
in this morning's Squad 'A', it was a Malta
Senior Open rookie that set the pace in Squad
'B', Owe Hermann, 55, of Oslo, Nor way
(pictured), bowling in the Malta Senior Open
for the first time and topping the squad with
his score of 1274, but falling short of
overall leader Torbjorn Karlsson of Sweden's
1325, set in the opening squad.
Having only arrived in Malta on Monday,
Hermann has not had a chance of investigating
the delights of this lovely island but aims to
get out and about on Friday. "I especially
want to see the Blue Lagoon," he told us. He
wasn't able to celebrate his good score with a
tipple of the local brew as he doesn't touch
alcohol. "But I will have a good soft drink,"
he joked.
The ladies' division target of 1200, set by
Swede Gun Alstrom in the early squad, remained
unchallenged. England's Jackie Atkinson topped
the squad with 1092.
