MEN'S DIVISION - PLACES 37-72 - FOUR GAMES:

Kalle Gaiser, 61, of Stade, Germany (pictured) takes the plaudits for one of the 'Most Improved Positions' in the group placed 37-72 from the original twelve qualifying games staged over the past three days.

Qualifying in 43rd place, the German bowled a four-game set of 847 to top the squad, including age bonus, just after the crack of dawn this morning and should now progress to round three, bowling at 16:30 for another stint of four games and a chance of making the top 24, amongst those who will be in the money.

Bowling in the Malta Senior Open for the fifth time, Gaiser is a familiar figure on the senior tournament circuit and is also the well-known tournament director of the Stade Senior Open (The Jever Cup) staged each June.

Several other familiar figures progressed well, including England's stocky Terry Bowler, proving that you should never discount a player not feeling too well. He was a doubtful starter but an 812 series this morning has brought a broad smile back to his face. Fellow countrymen Robin Skinner and Keith Hodge also did well and, along with Erich Behrends of Germany, hope to progress to round three later in the day.

The next group taking to the SuperBowl lanes is men qualifiers in positions 1-36, kicking off at 11:30 for their next four games.
