FINAL STEP 2:  1 - 32:
Best of 3-Game matches
Ladies receive 8 pins per game included in posted score

Defending champion Jens Nickel of Germany and 2004 victor Britt Brondsted from Denmark have both booked their places in Step 3, having defeated their opponents 2-0 in the first round of the best-of-three game matches. Jens will advance to play Sami Konsteri of Finland in the next round as matches are decided by low seed versus the highest.

Highlight of the first game was a 298 from England's Paul Moor, king of the 2005 European Tour rankings. "He left the left-handed 2-10," explained Zara Glover. We worked that out as the 3-7, but stand to be corrected! This was Paul's first day with a spanking new Brunswick Scorchin' Inferno bowling ball, a devastating weapon that also took first place in the previous round in the hands of Tony Fransson.

Both two-handed delivery specialists, Aussie Jason Belmonte and Finland's Osku Palermaa have also made the next round but as fourth and sixth seeds it may be some time before they play each other. That would be an interesting match indeed. In the meantime, Jason comes up against Singapore's ace 'spinner' Alice Tay.
