ARLINGTON, Texas – The Grand Sierra Resort Bowling Center in Reno, Nevada, will host the 2020 United States Bowling Congress Masters, a major event on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour.

The 2020 Masters will kick off March 23 and the stepladder finals on Sunday, March 29, will be televised live on FS1 as part of the PBA’s television package with FOX Sports.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the best bowlers in the world at the USBC Masters,” Grand Sierra Resort SVP Hotel Operations Kent Vaughan said. “We’ve made a significant investment in the bowling center and we’re excited to showcase it to the bowlers, fans and a national television audience. We know it will be a great event.”

Reno also will be the host city for the 2020 USBC Open Championships. The event, which will be held at the National Bowling Stadium, will get underway March 21 and run through July 5.

Jakob Butturff of Tempe, Arizona, captured his first career major championship at the 2019 USBC Masters, held at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The tournament welcomed 450 competitors, selling out for the seventh consecutive year.

At the 2020 Masters, competitors will bowl 15 games of qualifying over three days (five games each day) and total pinfall will determine the 63 players who will join Butturff, the defending champion, in the double-elimination match-play bracket.

Match play consists of three-game total-pinfall matches to determine the five players for the championship stepladder.

The Masters last visited Reno in 2011, and Tom Hess of Urbandale, Iowa, claimed the title for the first victory of his PBA Tour career at the National Bowling Stadium.
