4.THE JOY OF SIX by Mike Riggins, April 2001
The flood of bowling balls has slowed to a trickle. Is it permanent?
I compete in a tournament club that bowls at a different center each month.
There's one center where I always seem to start slowly, then finish
strongly - but the slow start leaves me about 20 pins short of the More ...
5.A COLORFUL AND PLENTIFUL ARRAY by Mike Riggins, March 2001
Besides the Red Pulse and Black Hammer, the new releases create much Heat and make an Assault on our senses worthy of a Trauma ward.
The manufacturers tell us that releases will slow down. Well, it hasn't
happened yet,
so let's get right at it.. Don't be afraid to scuff or polish this

6.'CORE OF THE MONTH' TRIFECTA
by Mike Riggins, January 2001
Avenger, Demolition Zone and Legend offer unique-looking and strong cores; Storm makes a big entrance with the X-IT.
As the Excalibur pulls up to the center, we unload a Monster as the Avenger of our scores, establish a Demolition Zone at the pin deck and let one of these

It's no Top Secret: It was a Monster month for new issues.

8. Rick Reilly, How Dare You? by Kelly
Bednar
Sports Illustrated columnist lambasts
bowling for its high scores. The author disputes the point, but digs
further to see if it has any merit.
In the May 22, 2000 issue of Sports Illustrated, Rick Reilly
editorialized on bowling's current state of scoring, claiming that

9. A Month for Condiments & Aromas by Mike Riggins
Yes, Mr. Mike's Food Court Has Apparently Opened
for Business.
This
month, we ketchup on the Ebonite Vortex series from last month (too many
balls, not enough space) and add some light mustard on the 4D Reactive
Hammer, which missed deadline. More ...

The name is a blast from the past, but Columbia’s Cuda 2000 is all new, inside and out.

Open The Flood Gates by Mike Riggins
At times like this, the author feels like changing his name to Noah and building an ark. Meanwhile, Faball spikes up the proceedings with the core of the month.
There are a lot of “sweet” balls to pick from this month! If you can’t cover a condition with one of these 14 balls, you’re probably in dire need of an industrial-strength session with a Team USA coach.

We have four for a full review - NightHawk SPT, Command Zone, Complete Chaos and Track Champ. The new NightHawk Pearl was a late arrival and will get light tech skinny only. The Lightning Flash and Thunder Flash are still no-shows; hopefully, next month.

TUNA FISH, OR TUNE A PROACTIVE by Mike Riggins
Looking for a new finishing system for those tough-to-tune balls? We check one out, while also going the Distance on a Matrix and La Niña.
In addition to several follow-up reviews, we also have a mini-report on the Trizact finishing system offered by Brunswick. This system allows ProActive covers to be restored to box condition after resurfacing, or to be fine-tuned easier than with conventional sandpaper or polishes.

NEW BALLS GO TO OUTER LIMITS by Mike Riggins
A chemical company that has dealings with NASA turns to bowling, while BTV and Hammer release their biggest hook balls yet.
Ten new balls are out, leaving us with five new balls for full review (including a new kid on the block, AZO), tech-skinny for two, and three no-shows. We also have to report a price correction on the Track Stomp, simply because we received the wrong numbers. The ball is targeted for the $120 range, not the $160 price we were told. This performer is a real bargain.

RIGGINS' RIG by Mike Riggins
A Summer Summary for Five
You can tell summer is here. This writing shows only five new bowling balls slated for July/August release, and we'll get right to it. But first, we would like to extend a sincere apology to the manufacturers for our very limited time at Bowl Expo. Our Florida trip had to have been arranged by National Lampoon.
