The field has been trimmed to 16 in the 50th annual Times-News Open in Erie, Pa.
A starting field of 224 was cut to 48 during qualifying action Jan. 5-6, and those 48 bowled six additional games this past Sunday. It took a 16-game total of 3569 to remain in the hunt.
This weekend, the 16 survivors will bowl eight games on Saturday at Eastland Bowl, followed by nine games on Sunday at Rolling Meadow Lanes, to determine the 2013 champion. Results to date can be accessed here (http://tnopen.org/index.html).
