Barrett, Poppler Top European Point Standings

England’s Dominic Barrett clinched his second European Bowling Tour rankings title with a 10th-place finish in the final event of 2012, the 12th Qatar Open. He last won these rankings in 2010, and finished runner-up in 2008 and 2009.

Barrett compiled 695 points over the year and had a 40-point buffer over second-place Mika Koivuniemi. Sweden’s Martin Larsen was third with 614 points.

In the women’s division, Birgit Poppler of Germany dominated the standings with a huge total of 820 points, 172 better than runner-up Sandra Andersson of Sweden. Denmark’s Britt Brondsted placed third with 514.

The final standings:

WOMEN — 1. Birgit Poppler, Germany, 820 points; 2. Sandra Andersson, Sweden, 648; 3. Britt Brondsted, Denmark, 514; 4. Krista Pollanen, Finland, 420; 5. Nina Flack, Sweden, 391; 6. Heidi Thorstensen, Norway, 358; 7. Josefine Linderoth, Sweden, 348; 8. Rebecka Larsen, Sweden, 336; 9. Cassie Staudinger, Australia, 326; 10. Nicole Sanders, Netherlands, 297; 11. These leading 12 men and 12 women qualify for the EBT Masters.
