Off the top of your head, can you name the six men and six women who made the Bowlers Journal All-American Teams 50 years ago?
They’re some of the most famous names in bowling history, and in the August issue of BJI, they’re listed in the “Flashback” department, which traces the top tenpin stories of 50, 25 and 10 years ago.
History buffs also will enjoy J.R. Schmidt’s “Time Capsule” feature, which tells the tale of a bowling shootout like no other — one that included an actual firearm. It took place in the early 1940s in Flint, Mich., and Schmidt relates the fascinating story with the help of “The Oldest Bowler.”
