Rebecka Takes Over

July 21st, 2012  |  Published in Breaking News

It is always good to see a member of the fairer sex take a turn at leading a squad and who could be better than lithe blond Rebecka

Rebecka Larsen

Larsen from Gothenberg, Sweden?

No stranger to the Bowling Pedralbes lanes, having been a finalist here in the annual European Women’s Masters, Larsen enjoyed a Saturday morning jaunt across 12 on the center’s 14 lanes to post 1447 to take second place in the overall standings.

“It all went well for me this morning,” Larsen said, after the squad. “I had no problems moving from pair to pair and my bowling balls held up through the six games.”

Larsen had a high game of 268, the fourth game of her series.

Asked if she bowled for renowned international women’s team Spader Dam, she replied “No, I am with Team X-Calibur, and we beat Spader Dam in the Swedish Championships.”

Beware of a tough competitor in tomorrow’s finals.

Tony Rantaa from Finland was squad runner-up to Larsen, but way back on 1366, having problems negotiating the lanes for his first two games, then getting into his stride to get over 200. He too had his best game in the fourth, posting a 278.

There are just three qualifying squads left and there are waiting lists for each. The top 42 in the standings will make it through to the finals tomorrow morning and that group will be made up to 48 with six women who do not make the cut joining the fray.

There is no desperado squad, so fifty per cent of total qulifying pinfall will be carried forward.
