When it comes to deciding as to who knows their way around the pairs of lanes at Bowling Pedralbes the name of Thomas Larsen
from Denmark quickly comes to mind. The young Danish international and national team member won the Catalonia Open here a couple of years ago and is always a contender come finals day in both European Bowling Tour events here.
He gave notice of his intent to be on the podium come Sunday evening when winning squad number eight with a score of 1350, which should be good enough to make the cut, but as fifty per cent of the qualifying score is carried forward into the final rounds a score around 1400 is preferred, so Larsen will be entering the fray once again.
Larsen did not have it all his own way through the squad and was chased down the home straight by Romanian Romeo Gagenolou, but the lithe Dane managed to hold off the challenge and finish with a 35 pin buffer.
“I am having a good year and am really excited about bowling for Denmark in the upcoming Men’s European Championships in Vienna, Austria,” Larsen said.
There are three more squads scheduled for today (Friday) and four more tomorrow, so we are currently at the halfway stage and the cream of European bowlers are now displaying their talents.
All good stuff!
