It was a successful title defense for Stuart Williams, 30, from Ellesmere Port in north-west England, defeating fellow
countryman Lee Cocker from Enfield, near London 632 – 374 in the two-game total pinfall final.
The semi-finals saw the two Englishmen facing Cypriots, Williams against Yiannos Kostantinou, Cocker battling against Kyriakos Kostantinou, no relations despite the same family names.
It was an easy ride for Williams, posting 462 over the two games to the Cypriots 327, but Cocker lagged behind his opponent then pulled through in the tenth frame to win by five pins, 420-415.
So the 7th Cockatoos Paphos Open was the usual outstanding success and is firmly added to the diaries of many bowlers for the 2012 edition.
