A total of 66 nations will be represented in the 2010 World Men’s Championships at the fabulous 52-lane Dream Bowl Palace in
Unterfohring, near Munich, and players from those nations will commence their tough schedule with an official practice session today (Thusday) ready for the first discipline, the six-game Singles event which gets underway tomorrow morning.
The team managers were briefed by Tournament Director Kim Thorsgaard Jensen at the team managers’ meeting on Thursday morning, detailing the procedures that will be adopted through the championships. Technical Delegate Harri Kalliokoski thoroughly described the long and medium oil lane patterns and the bowling ball checks and Host Tournament Manager Florian Fister of the German Bowling Union ran through details that will give the players better understanding of the plan of the centre and other relevant information.
There are four squads taking to the lanes for official practice today, running through until 19:00, then the players and officials will line-up for a memorable opening ceremony with guests of honour Gert Groepler and Klaus Boerold, players from the 1960 World Championships in Hamburg, and the Mayor of Unterfohring, Franz Schwarz.
