Several issues will continue to lead to our sports demise.

Extremely easy lane conditions.
How many people continue to PAY to play on a Harder golf course? How many basketball players set a limit on how far they can sink a jump shot? If bowling continues to make the House China so easy, what do people have to strive for? 300's use to mean something, today they are getting to be common. The first question asked is "hey how many is that now?"

Stop worrying about the "legions" of bowlers that will leave if the game is harder due to tougher "sanctioned" lane conditions. We will bowl, and maybe, the people that get bored of the house china or think its too easy now, will stop quitting leagues.

ESPN.
How often do you see any of our professional's accomplishments on sports center? Norm was the first player to win how many Back to Back majors? Not a blip. Walter Ray sets the all time title mark, and did any one hear about it? And to top that off the PBA has to pay ESPN to air the show weekly.

I give great credit to the USBC for continuing to bring our youth into the sport. I also applaud the NCAA and other forms of University level bowling for being one of the fastest growing sports. The more people that experience that level of competition the better we are. I encourage every one to try and bowl in City / State / Regional tournaments.

One last item, Teams…The Geico team challenge is a cool idea, but is made trivial in its format. How many golfers set up a par 3 course in an amusement park, Or how many times does Lebron go and play outside in that venue and be taken seriously. Make it real. Most of us "league" bowlers are on a team. What about running a team season after the single's season ends? Bowing's season is much shorter then most other major sports, so this should be feasible.
